Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski revealed that the investigation involves a former prime minister, a deputy prime minister, a director of a legal entity, a secretary general, and other government officials. The probe in North Macedonia is focused on eight former high-ranking officials, including a former prime minister, regarding alleged financial misconduct related to gambling licenses awarded to the state lottery company by the previous administration. Toshkovski confirmed the investigation includes several senior individuals, but their names have not been released. Reports suggest that former Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and deputy Artan Grubi could be implicated. To date, there have been no official statements or arrests, and those involved have not made any public comments. Recently, law enforcement carried out searches at nine various sites as part of the inquiry. The controversy revolves around the irregularities in gambling licenses issued by the former Social Democrat government, which was succeeded by the conservative VMRO-DPMNE Party after their election victory in May. Due to the prominent individuals involved, this investigation is expected to attract significant attention as it progresses.
