Goodwin NV, a gaming supplier located in Curaçao, has been prohibited from operating in Sweden by the country’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, for failing to comply with regulations. The ban was imposed after Spelinspektionen found that Goodwin NV was operating without a license, which was evidenced by a beta test that enabled users in Sweden to create accounts. This violation of the Gambling Act comes after a similar prohibition on Versus Odds BV, which is based in Curaçao, earlier this month. Goodwin NV might contest the decision, but the ban takes effect right away, and there could be financial penalties if they do not comply. Sweden has recently strengthened its regulatory measures by joining the Macolin Convention to combat match-fixing and launching new anti-money laundering initiatives with BOS. Toward the end of last year, the Swedish Gambling Authority presented its budget plan for 2025, highlighting its commitment to tighter oversight of unlicensed gambling and fighting match-fixing. Recently, the Authority responded to worries by rejecting claims of a data breach in the Spelpaus self-exclusion system, which had been raised by local journalists.
