Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) announced on December 13 that Francis Lui Yiu Tung has been named the new chairman of the board. Francis Lui, the eldest son of the company’s founder and former chairman Lui Che Woo, who died on November 7 at the age of 95, will assume the chairman role immediately. In a retrospective on December 14, Macau Business emphasized Lui Che Woo’s crucial influence in turning Cotai into a center for gaming and hospitality. GEG runs Galaxy Macau and Broadway Macau in Cotai, as well as StarWorld Macau on the peninsula. Galaxy Macau, the fifth-largest casino in the world, offers a 37,000 square meter gaming area, a variety of dining choices, and the 14,000-seat Galaxy Arena. Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has the largest development pipeline of all casino operators in Macau. The HK$5.1 billion Phase 4 expansion of Galaxy Macau will add six new hotels and a theatre with 4,000 seats. When finished in 2027, GEG’s presence in Cotai will increase to more than two million square meters. Francis Lui Yiu, the chairman of GEG’s board, stated: I believe Macau has the ability to draw in international tourists, but it won’t be due to lower prices.
